This picture was taken at a fundraiser for my daughter's school. I'm sitting with a bevy of blondes (the one beside me is a close friend and all of the rest of them were ladies I had never met before). Because we were all blondes in black there were many paparazzi moments where someone representing the school would ask to take our photo. The sweet lady in the far right corner did something that inspired this month's "aha moment".
Every time the photographer asked if they could take a picture she would yell out "chin up ladies. It took me a while to figure out what she was talking about- she was trying to give us a hint on how we should pose so that we would get our most flattering angle captured.I totally hear chin up and think "be brave" or "keep pushing through" not literal put your chin higher.
This led me to thinking about what a great place this world would be if we gave uplifting comments, hints and help to everyone. Wouldn't life be awesome if we were constantly shouting words of encouragement to people we didn't know, if we were praising people for things they did for us that we usually take for-granted?
My happiness practice for the month is going to be passing "chin up" type sentiments to everyone in my path. Here are a few hints if you want to join me...
1) Be the kindest person in the room.
2) Expect to be treated well.
3) Assume that everyone is doing the best they can given their current situation & beliefs.
4) Smile at everyone.
5) Listen and learn something from everyone.
I want to encourage you all to lift your chin a little higher by taking part in a fabulous event designed to change the way we think of healing. If you live in Victoria BC you can come on out to the event but if you don't, don't worry, we wouldn't want you to miss out!!! We're going to be streaming our event live.
The speaker is Dr. Virender Sodhi. who was actually the first Ayurvedic practitioner in North America. (he was sent here by the Indian government to teach North America about this ancient wisdom tradition) My partners at Sutra Healing and I launched a new company to simplify healing bodies, healing minds and healing hearts. There's a link below and I would love it if you would take a peek and join us to launch the healing revolution.
PS- I got a little giggle at the thought of launching a healing movement with a gambling and drinking picture...everything in balance right?!
