When we turn up the volume on our inner- voice, we make choices that are aligned with our highest purpose. How do we hear this inner voice more clearly? Listen to your body- There will be signs like tense shoulders or softening of the eyes that indicate if you are in a positive emotional state or a negative one. Learn to identify where your body feels stress, anger, and fear as well as happiness, excitement, and empathy. As you practice tuning in you will start to recognize the signs more clearly. Remind yourself of times where you made good choices. Celebrate these. As you focus on feeling your strength as a decision maker you activate the neural pathways that were used when you made a good choice. Like a muscle, your neural pathways are strengthened with use. The corallary of this is, stop thinking about times where your judgement was off. Instead of dwelling on those situations, acknowledge that you might have made a better decision, have gratitude at what you learned from your decision and remind yourself that we learn from our mistakes so next time you will be better equipped to make a good choice. I highlt recommend Martha Beck's Finding Your Own North Star for a step by step process on re-discovering your inner voice.
