The process of trusting oneself allows you the gift of confidence as you move through life. To be bold and move forward with assurance, we need to strengthen the belief that we are our own best expert. We do this by listening to our inner voice and becoming students of our actions and choices.
There are two possibilities as to how life unfolds. One is that we encounter stimulus and we respond. Your car hits mine and that makes me angry. We call this model stimulus/response. The second option is a stimulus/belief/response. In this version we encounter stimulus that we filter through a belief before we form a response. Your car hits mine. I don't like my car and am glad that insurance will replace it. I choose to be happy I am not hurt and I get a new car. Which version is real? (This is the best part) Whichever version you choose as your reality.
Empowered people choose stimulus/belief/response.
Once you have started to trust yourself you can practice turning up the volume on your inner-voice by asking yourself "What do I really want?" Then check in on your want with these questions:
Stay present. When our inner voice is wavering it is usually because we are asking "What if" questions or wondering how others will react or judge.
Move towards your fear If you recognize fear is holding you back explore the fear by moving towards it or exaggerating it. This will allow you to really see if the fear is serving you or stopping you.
Remind yourself of the choices you have made that were successes.
Remind yourself that you have survived every poor choice you have made in your life- you're still here right?
Practice "reframing" Make up the story you want. If you have 3 divorces don't think of them as failed marriages but as why you are ready for the perfect partner- practice makes perfect!
If you practice trusting yourself, you will become the type of person you have always aspired to be. Fan the flame of possibility into achievement!
