AVOID THESE SELF-COMPASSION PITFALLS
Try this Exercise at Home
Write a letter to yourself.
1. Think of something about yourself that causes feelings of inadequacy, shame or anger.
2. Write a letter about how you feel thinking of this trait.
3. Take the perspective of someone who loves you unconditionally. Remember everyone has flaws. Think of factors that might have contributed to your developing this quality.
4. Re-read the letter and if it feels useful, rip it up or burn it! Remember we get to change the things we dislike in ourselves.
